If you want to know more about what these courses are about, see below for the course descriptions. We are particularly excited about the Catholic Scriptures course and the Prophets course as those two have been updated a great deal recently and are very well done!
Christology: This course will explore the definition and purpose of Christology, how the Gospels portray Jesus and offer an overview of the historical roots of Christology. It will look at the incarnation and the overall life of Christ.
Church History: This course will give a historical overview of the Church starting with the New Testament, studying the Act of the Apostles, the Journeys and writings of St. Paul, and continuing with the Ten Peak Moments in Church History. Participants will gain insight into the development of doctrine through Magisterial Councils, as well as the spread of missionary activity throughout the world with a journey through the centuries.
Prophets: This study introduces participants to the prophets of the Old Testament, highlighting their call, mission and message to the people entrusted to them by God. All will be encouraged by the similarities of past and present events and how the prophets’ voices still resonate with truth and faith.
Sacraments of Healing & Service: This course is two-fold, initially focusing on the Sacraments of Healing, comprised of Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick. It will explore the gift of Holy Orders and Marriage, as the Sacraments of Service. Combined, these sacraments will strengthen the participant’s understanding of the power of Jesus’ healing, both spiritual and physical, as well as an appreciation of the role of priest, deacons and couples in serving God’s people through their particular role.
Catholic Scriptures (Old Testament/New Testament): This course guides participants on a path of practical study of Sacred Scripture. Students will grow in an introductory understanding of the centrality of Scripture for Catholics, the differences in Christian bibles, and the literary forms of the books of the sacred text. Elements, tools and resources for interpretation are presented in order to expand the mind of the key concepts of the role of Scripture and Tradition. Further detailed discovery of the story of salvation is presented through the Old Testament and the New Testament.
