Participation in the Diocesan Certification Program is an opportunity for growth in one’s own faith and to deepen one’s commitment to the mission of the Catholic School.
– Basic Certification is required for relevant Catholic School Personnel according to their contractual agreement.
Basic Certification Consists of 80 hours (eight courses) typically done at two courses per year until certification is achieved. After acquiring Basic Certification all persons are required to earn a minimum of 20 hours every 3 years. This can be done through taking Intermediate courses or enrichment opportunities for Religious Certification credit. Basic certification must be completed before Intermediate level can be achieved. MAT I Courses are all at the level of Basic Certification. The yearly academic schedule and explanation of the courses is posted on the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis website under the Certification tab.
A Certificate of Completion can be requested from the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis once the hours requirement has been met.
– Intermediate Certification is required for Catholic School Principals & Assistant Principals.
Intermediate Certification consists of 80 hours of study at the MAT II level or other credit opportunities for Intermediate Credit. The yearly academic schedule and explanation of the courses is posted on the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis website under the Certification tab. A Certificate of Completion can be requested from the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis once the hours requirement has been met. – Catholic Sexual Morality Certification is required for any personnel who are responsible for teaching sexual morality.
Catholic Sexual Morality Certification consists of 4 classes offered by the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge. Contact the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis to find out when/where the next course will be offered. Registration is done through the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis website.
