An Important Message from the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis of the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge
On behalf of the Diocesan Office of Evangelization & Catechesis, I offer you prayers as we experience this new transition of a healthy response to the current pandemic. Please take a moment to read this important message regarding our 2020 MAT Summer Institute Program.
On-Campus to Online
Safe-distancing protocol standards have been applied to the classrooms where course participants gather to learn. As result of the “indefinite” closure of these classrooms in the Tracy Center located on the campus of The Catholic Life Center, 1800 S. Acadian Thruway in Baton Rouge, we are moving the Ministry & Theology (MAT) courses from On-Campus to Online Learning.
All MAT Summer Institute courses, as well as those scheduled for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, will be offered entirely online. Presently, MAT I Basic Courses and some MAT II Intermediate Courses have existing Online standards. A few MAT II Courses will be modified for Online adaptation.
Those currently enrolled in these courses will receive details pertaining to Zoom links, and course information. Those intending on taking courses should register as soon as possible to insure a “seat.” For a list of upcoming courses please refer to:
I offer gratitude for my staff in the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis: Shannon Baldridge, Barry Schoedel, Michele Johnson, and for our course instructors Carmel Acosta, Edie Boudreaux, Angele Corkern, Josie Duke, Wendy Enloe, Christine Mendizabal, Jason Romero and Scott Smith, who have worked tirelessly to make this a seamless transition.
Share the Good News
The next step is to share this incredible opportunity of faith formation in ministry and theology with your faculty, catechists, volunteers, staff, pastoral teams and faith community. Together, let us follow our Lord Jesus, as we deepen our understanding of faith and, thus, strengthen our love for God and one another. May the joy of the Jesus become your joy!
