The USCCB designated the theme for Catechetical Sunday for 2019 is “Stay With Us”, and the emphasis is to reach out to disaffiliated Catholics. As we transition from Enlisting Witnesses (2018) to reflection upon the theme of inviting Jesus to stay as we reach out to disafiiliated Catholics we will hold our 2019 Catechist Convocation. This year’s convocation promises to be a Spirit-filled ocassion with Bishop Michael Duca, David Dawson Jr. (New Orleans), and national speaker and author Judy Klein. Join us to celebrate and grow in your commitment as a Catechist of the sancta ecclesia (Holy Church).

May we, too, invite Jesus to remain with us that we may recognize Him in the breaking of bread with the marginalized and disaffiliated.

And as the Chairman of the Bishop’s Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis, Bishop Robert Barron, remarked, “May our lives be an imitation of Jesus’ encounter with the two disciples on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35) and accompany those entrusted to us into full community and discipleship”.
Enjoy this chant by Taize based on the invitation on the road to Emmaus to Jesus to “stay”.
